Sarah Paulson Says There Will Be No Second Season To Netflix’s ‘Ratched’

According to TVLine, Sarah Paulson (American Horror Story) stated that the Netflix thriller series Ratched will not be returning for second season. The prequel series to the thriller drama film One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest aired on the streamer in 2020, and since then many fans have wondered if a second season would follow. Originally in 2022 when Paulson spoke to Variety, she had stated that she didn’t know if a second season was even in the works.

The series’ first season was nominated for three Golden Globes Awards and one Emmy Award.

Below is a post in which a fan asks Paulson about a second season for the series to which she replies “no”.

According to TVLine, the official synopsis reads as follows: “Mildred arrives in Northern California to seek employment at a leading psychiatric hospital where new and unsettling experiments have begun on the human mind. On a clandestine mission, Mildred presents herself as the perfect image of what a dedicated nurse should be, but the wheels are always turning and as she begins to infiltrate the mental health care system and those within it, Mildred’s stylish exterior belies a growing darkness that has long been smoldering within, revealing that true monsters are made, not born.”

Ratched was created and produced by Ryan Murphy (American Horror Stories). The series cast includes Paulson as Nurse Mildred, Cynthia Nixon (Sex and the City) as Gwendolyn Briggs, Judy Davis (Husbands and Wives) as Nurse Betsy Bucket, Sharon Stone (The Flight Attendant) as Lenore Osgood, Jon Jon Briones (American Crime Story) as Dr. Richard Hanover, Finn Wittrock (The Big Short) as Edmund Tolleson, Charlie Carver (The Boys in the Band) as Huck, and many others.

There has yet to be an official confirmation from Netflix. Season one of the series is available on the streamer.
