According to ScreenRant, with the recent renewal of Grey’s Anatomy for another season, series star Sandra Oh (Killing Eve, Under the Tuscan Sun) has opened up about possibly returning. Viewers have been wondering if Oh would return to the series to reprise her role. Oh has responded whether or not she would return to the medical drama while speaking with ET.
According to ScreenRant, the star addressed whether she would be joining the cast in later episodes of the current season. Although she is overjoyed and grateful viewers want to see more of her character in the series she is satisfied with how the role concluded.
While speaking with ET, Oh said, “I love that I love that people are still fans. I love that you asked me that, because Cristina Yang is, of course, near and dear to my heart. But I will say, not anytime soon, my love. I hope people feel like I did my job, which is that I brought to life a character and she had a growth over 10 seasons, and that it was true. She was ready to move on, and so have I.”
Grey’s Anatomy created by Shonda Rhimes (Inventing Anna, Station 19) has now been running for 20 seasons and has been renewed for its 21st by ABC. The series follows a group of young doctors at Seattle Grace Mercy West Hospital, who began their careers at the facility as interns. Created in 2005, the series is one of the longest-running medical dramas in television history.
Oh was part of the medical drama since the beginning and left during season 10. She played the character of Dr. Cristina Yang in the series for over 220 episodes until she felt it was time to pursue other opportunities in her career.
Grey’s Anatomy can be streamed on ABC, Hulu, and Netflix.
