Apple TV has released its season two trailer for the hit science fiction series Dark Matter. The creative team behind the series, including stars and executive producers Joel Edgerton (Warrior, The Gift) and Jennifer Connolly (Requiem For A Dream, Top Gun: Maverick), unveiled the trailer at San Diego Comic Con. The series is based on the novel by Blake Crouch (Wayward Pines, Good Behavior). Crouch also takes the lead on the television series as showrunner. Watch the trailer below.
Regarded as a modern sci-fi classic, Dark Matter follows Edgerton’s Jason Desson, a physicist and professor who is kidnapped and taken to an alternate reality where his life has ended up differently. His initial curiosity eventually turn to desperation as he attempts to find his way back to his wife Daniella (Connolly). Season two will throw the couple back into danger as Jason is unable to do away with the box completely. Amanda and Ryan, played by Dayo Okeniyi (Hypnotic, See) and Jimmi Simpson (Westworld, It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia), respectively, find themselves on a quest to return to their reality.
Additional cast members include Oakes Fegley (Pete’s Dragon, The Goldfinch) and Amanda Brugel (Handmaid’s Tale, The Testemenats). Apple TV and Sony Pictures Television produce the series. Executive producers include Crouch, Matt Tolmach (Morbius, Venom), Richard Lederer (Empire, Betrayal) and Jacquelyn Ben-Zekry (Dark Matter)
With the launch of season two, Crouch and Ben-Zekry will host a podcast going in depth with the series. Guests will feature an array of different cast members to talk through their characters and process. Ben-Zekry, who co-wrote the entirety of season two, will dive into the universe of Dark Matter and how the series allowed them to expand on the source material. Additionally, authors and social media creators will join to discuss the series from a fan’s perspective.
Season two is slated to release on August 28th, 2026, on Apple TV+. Episodes will release on Fridays until the season finale on October 30th.
