Deadline reported that Apple TV+’s The Morning Show will end with the upcoming fifth season of the series, set to premiere next year. The show has been a foundational part of the streamer’s original series catalogue since even before the platform’s launch, having been given a two-season straight-to-series order in 2017; two years prior to the release of Apple TV.

The Morning Show stars Reese Witherspoon (Legally Blonde, Wild) and Jennifer Aniston (Friends, We’re the Millers) as members of a fictional network’s broadcast morning news program – following the lives of individuals and their work behind one of the country’s premiere broadcast sources. Inspired by media critic Brian Stelter’s book Top of the Morning: Inside the Cutthroat World of Morning TV, the series examines current events and politically relevant topics, such as the #MeToo movement and the COVID-19 pandemic. Over its tenure, the series has earned numerous accolades, awards, and nominations, with featured actors Aniston, Witherspoon, and Billy Crudup (Alien: Covenant, Watchmen) receiving critical acclaim for their performances across the previous four seasons.

Deadline reports that, currently in production, the now-final fifth season of The Morning Show features an ensemble cast of; Aniston, Witherspoon, Crudup, Néstor Carbonell (Suddenly Susan, Bates Motel), Mark Duplass (The Lazarus Effect, Creep), Nicole Beharie (American Violet, Black Mirror), Karen Pittman (Luke Cage, The Americans), and Jon Hamm (Mad Men, Bad Times at the El Royale). Newcoming stars to the series include; Lizzy Caplan (Mean Girls, Now You See Me 2), Sean Hayes (Will & Grace, Is This Thing On?), Jeff Daniels (The Newsroom, Speed), Reneé Rapp (The Sex Lives of College Girls, Mean Girls), and Jesse Williams (Grey’s Anatomy, Hotel Costiera). As listed; Daniels will play self-made investment firm billionaire “Lukas”, Rapp will feature as a young rising star in the news division, and Williams will play UBN’s new Head of News, “Vernon”.

Per Deadline, audiences last saw the crew of the UBA network show (now merged with NBN) preparing for the 2024 Paris Olympics, amidst dealing with widespread scandals behind-the-scenes and a newfound level to the typical workplace politics and drama. As it is still in production, more intensive plot details have yet to be revealed, but are more likely to appear as we edge closer to its projected airing year of 2027.

On the subject of its conclusion, Witherspoon and Aniston spoke fondly on their work with Apple and the cast and crew. From Deadline, Aniston said:
