According to The Hollywood Reporter, Sam Waterson (The Newsroom) will costar in Netflix’s 13 episode comedy Grace and Frankie, which will also star Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin.
The comedy will center around rivals Grace (Fonda) and Frankie (Tomlin), whose lives are upheaved when their husbands declare their love for each other, and leave the two women. Waterson will play Frankie’s ex-husband, Sol.
Sol will be more in touch with his feelings than his lover and law partner Robert (Martin Sheen), who is Grace’s husband, and announces that he has been having an affair with Robert for 20 years. Waterson’s role comes on the heels of him finishing his role as Charlie Skinner on The Newsroom, which enters its third and final season this fall.
Grace and Frankie will premiere in 2015.
