

Deadline has reported that Sam Jaeger (American Sniper, The Handmaid’s Tale) has been cast as a recurring character on the Apple TV+ series Bad Monkey for season two. The series spawns from the mind of Bill Lawrence (Scrubs, Shrinking), creator of numerous hit comedy series, including Ted Lasso, Shrinking, and Scrubs. Vince Vaughn (Swingers, True Detective) headlines the cast of the series and joins Lawrence as an executive producer.
According to Deadline, Season one was based on the best-selling novel by Carl Hiaasen (Fever Beach, Hoot), also entitled Bad Monkey. The series centers around Andrew Yancy, played by Vaughn, a former member of the Miami Police Department who has washed up on the shores of the Florida Keys. Now working as a health inspector, Yancy stumbles upon a human arm that came aboard a fishing vessel. Yancy is given his last chance to make it back on the force if he can crack the case. He faces some classic Florida hijinks, as well as the titular ‘Bad Monkey’.
Via Deadline, season two is set to be an original work. Vaugn will return in his lead role along with John Ortiz (Silver Lining Playbook, American Gangster), who plays Yancy’s best friend and current police detective. John Malkovich (Being John Malkovich, Burn After Reading_ will also join the season two cast as a South Florida crime boss. Yvonne Strahovski (Chuck, Teacup) will also come on board. She starred opposite Jaeger in The Handmaid’s Tale.
Deadline has reported that Jaeger’s recent television work includes Hulu’s The Handmaid’s Tale, the Netflix limited series Devil In Ohio with Zooey Deschanel (New Girl, Elf). He is likely most recognizable from his role in Parenthood.
According to Deadline, on the big screen, Jaeger starred in movies such as Steven Soderbergh’s (Logan Lucky, Magic Mike) Traffic, Clint Eastwood’s (Gran Torino, Million Dollar Baby) American Sniper, Paul Thomas Anderson’s (The Master, Magnolia) Inherent Vice, and in The Eyes Of Tammy Faye with Jessica Chastain (Interstellar, Zero Dark Thirty) and Andrew Garfield (The Social Network, Hacksaw Ridge). Jaeger is repped by Greene Talent, Entertainment 360, and John Meigs on the legal side.
