Ron Livingston Gets Recurring Role On ‘Dice’ Season 2

Ron Livingston has been cast to shake up the cast of Showtime’s Dice Deadline Hollywood reports. The Office Space star is pegged to play a schmoozy entertainment lawyer on the semi-autobiographical comedy about and starring controversial stand-up comedy icon Andrew Dice Clay.

A creation of Old School’s Scot Armstrong, Dice follows The Dice Man in a relatively humdrum (for Dice) life as a loving family man and professional gambler. As he attempts to put his rock star status comedy identity behind him, Dice is still haunted by the ghosts of his ridiculous, hilarious, and utterly offensive past. The former headliner is just trying to be a regular guy, but suburban Las Vegas might not be far enough from the limelight. The series also stars Kevin Corrigan (Community) and features an array of notable guests.

Livingston’s recurring role is that of the smooth talking Sidney Stein who, much like Dice, has an occasional nasty streak. After lending a hand to the chain smoking star, Sidney finds himself in a tight spot and needs to turn to Clay for help.

While Livingston’s latest project was Jason Reitman’s Tully, his agenda is still full up with other projects beyond Dice. He is set to appear on the likes of comedy series Loudermilk and crime thriller Shimmer Lake. Though fans of cult comedy mostly remember him from his role as the neurotic turned zen Peter Gibbons in Office Space, other works have included a six episode arc on Boardwalk Empire and voiceover stints with Seth McFarlane.

As for Dice Clay, his comeback has been years in the making. After rocketing into the limelight in the 80s and 90s (becoming the first comic to sell out Madison Square Garden two nights in a row), his raunchy style and vulgar persona drew the ire of multiple television and radio higher-ups. In numerous interviews on The Joe Rogan Experience, Clay has alluded to tearing down and rebuilding his career “for the goof.” Now, with Dice on a medium that can showcase the wild and wonderful, Clay is free to be as outrageous or down to Earth as he pleases.
