Comedian Rob Riggle is set to co-star in NBC’s Rob Lowe Comedy.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Riggle will play Lowe’s former tennis doubles partner in the single-camera comedy from Peter Huyck and Alex Gregory.
The prolific comedian has been tapped to star opposite Parks and Recreation alum, Rob Lowe, who will play as Ben Bertrahm in NBC’s comedy pilot The Pro.
The single-camera comedy is set in and around a tennis and golf club, and stars Lowe as Ben Bertrahm, a former doubles champion who is reunited with his ex-partner Bobby Welch (Riggle) after a public feud that left them both floundering in life.
In the comedy, Riggle’s Bobby comes to the tennis and golf shop as the new head pro — much to Ben’s chagrin. Following their split, Bobby went on to have an illustrious career and brags about his lifestyle. However, now he is dirt poor and living in a youth hostel and the duo wind up becoming co-pros at the club.
The Pro is Riggle’s latest TV gig. His credits include Adult Swim’s NTSF: SD: SUV, Drunk History, Modern Family as well as features 21 Jump Street and its upcoming sequel; Dumb and Dumber To.
Riggle is repped by WME, Principato-Young and Sloane Offer and was also the subject of a proposed Modern Family spinoff that would have centered on his overconfident real estate agent Gil Thorpe which has now been put on hold.
King of the Hill’s Peter Huyck and Alex Gregory will pen the script for The Pro, with Lowe, Karey Burke, Marc Gurvits and Todd Holland executive producing. Holland will also direct the single-camera pilot.
