‘Rick and Morty: The Anime’ Set To Premiere On Toonami

Via an article released by Comicbook.com, Adult Swim has announced that the eagerly anticipated Rick and Morty: The Anime will debut later this year. Fans will be thrilled to know that the anime spin-off will air on Toonami, bringing a fresh take on the beloved franchise.

Rick and Morty: The Anime is an official spin-off that expands on the popular anime shorts that previously aired between episodes of the main series on Adult Swim, according to Comicbook.com. These shorts garnered significant acclaim, prompting Adult Swim to commission a full series.

With the premiere just around the corner, excitement is building among fans eager to see the new adventures of Rick and Morty in anime form. According to Comicbook.com, the new series is in the final stages of production, aiming for a release sometime this summer. This timeline comes as a relief to fans, especially since Rick and Morty season eight is not slated to premiere until 2025.

There had been speculation about whether the anime might occupy the Sunday night slot typically reserved for Rick and Morty, but it has now been confirmed that the show will join the Toonami lineup on Saturdays. A sneak peek at the anime was revealed during a recent Toonami broadcast, featuring a previously released clip that has been circulating online. Swimpedia on X (formerly Twitter) highlighted the clip, adding to the anticipation.

According to Comicbook.com, Rick and Morty: The Anime is expected to air after My Adventures with Superman season two concludes in late July, suggesting late summer premiere. The anime series is helmed by Takashi Sano, known for directing the acclaimed Rick and Morty vs. Genocider and Summer Meets God (Rick Meets Evil) shorts. Sano brings his unique vision and storytelling expertise to the project, which is produced by Telecom Animation Film.

Adult Swim and Max will carry the series, which looks to be a fascinating continuation of the Rick and Morty name. With the anime’s Toonami launch getting closer, fans won’t have to wait much longer to explore this fascinating new world.
