Reboot of Magnum P.I. Finds its Star in Jay Hernandez

In an effort to keep up its idea of a twist on the original series, CBS has announced the casting of Jay Hernandez as the iconic lead on its reboot of Magnum, P.I.

In the new show, Thomas Magnum is a Navy seal who returns from a tour of duty in Afghanistan looking to put his special skills to work. He ultimately pairs up with a couple other vets (TC and Rick) as well as a former MI:6 agent. The private investigation crew picks up the slack that other firms don’t want to deal with.

Magnum P.I. will be produced by Davis Entertainment along with CBS and Universal TV Studios. Justin Lin is set to direct with Peter Lenkov and Eric Guggenheim putting the pen to paper as writers.

Hernandez comes to the project from a recurring role as Curtis Pryce on Scandal and a part in the Netflix pic, Bright. He also touts some major motion pictures roles in Suicide Squad, Bad Moms and the sequel Bad Moms Christmas.

The Magnum P.I. series will once again be filmed on location in Hawaii. Other roles have not yet been filled nor has a filming started.
