‘Raven’s Home’ Premiere Date Announced

Oh snap! We can see into the future and it looks like the Disney Channel’s upcoming spin-off of the beloved original series That’s So Raven is set to premiere on Friday, July 21. The pilot of Raven’s Home will air at 10/9c immediately following the premiere of the Disney Channel Original Movie Descendants 2. The following episodes will air Friday nights at 8:30/7:30c beginning on July 28.

The series will follow psychic Raven Baxter, which will be reprised by Raven-Symoné, as she lives life as a single mother with 11-year-old twins. Navia Robinson (Being Mary Jane) is set to play Nia, while Isaac Brown (Black-ish) is set to play Nia’s twin brother Booker. Anneliese van der Pol will reprise her role as Raven’s quirky best friend Chelsea, who is also a single mother of one. Chelsea’s son Levi will be played by Jason Maybaum (Superstore).  Former America’s Got Talent contestant Sky Katz will also star on the series as Tess, Nia and Booker’s best friend.

Raven and Chelsea decide to emerge their families and move in together to raise their children in a single household. While fans have pointed out the similarity of the show’s concept with Netflix’s Fuller House, it’s likely that the crazy antics caused by Raven, Chelsea, and their children will set the two shows apart.

While Raven still has the ability to see into the future, she is not the only one with the power in her family. Booker has the same ability and plans to use his new found power to get him through middle school and to help him adjust to his family’s new living situation. While Raven used her powers on the original series to deal with everything from boy problems to battling prejudice, Raven’s new focus will be all about what she needs to do to be a better mother and friend. Raven will also use her powers to improve her career as a fashion designer, which will make any fan of the original series happy to see that the show’s heroine has followed her dreams. While Nia most likely does not have the psychic ability, we would assume that any child of Raven Baxter’s would be able to come up with crazy antics with or without the power.

The premiere date of Raven’s Home is not the only exciting That’s So Raven related news. Get ready to reminisce and binge watch your favorite Disney Channel show before the premiere of Raven’s Home. Beginning on Thursday, June 1, every episode of That’s So Raven will be available to watch on-demand on the Disney Channel App and VOD.

It has not yet been announced if other original cast members from That’s So Raven will appear in the spin-off, but here’s to hoping that the Boyz ‘N Motion come back for a reunion concert.
