One of Quibi’s original series, Most Dangerous Game, has been renewed for second season on the newly launched streaming platform, according to Deadline. The action television program was created by Nick Santora (The Sopranos, Prison Break, Scorpion), Scott Elder (Hébé Kills Jerry), and Josh Harmon (The Secret Saturdays) and is founded in the narrative of a short story under the same name by Richard Connell (Meet John Doe). Executive produced by Santora, he is also joined in this role by one of the show’s directors in Phil Abraham (Mad Men), Gero Bauknecht (A Hologram for the King, The Wife), Gordon Gray (Invincible, Secretariat), Gerd Schepers (Solace, Jobs), and others in this capacity. The series’ second season has confirmed the return of Santora to return and write for the series in addition to featuring a partially new cast.
Following the same premise as the original short story, Most Dangerous Game centers on rich, eccentric individuals hunting prey that happens to be human beings in an isolated environment. In the series version, the show follows Dodge Tynes, portrayed by Liam Hemsworth (The Hunger Games), who has recently been diagnosed with terminal cancer and is uncertain about methods for providing for his family in the future. Dodge encounters an opportunity from a wealthy individual in Miles Sellars, portrayed by Christoph Waltz (Inglourious Basterds, Django Unchained), that includes the terminally-ill character being featured in a big game hunt. However, Dodge soon finds out that he is in fact the one that is being hunted. The additional cast includes the likes of Zach Cherry (Succession, You), Sarah Gadon (True Detective, Letterkenny), Chris Webster (TURN: Washington’s Spies), Billy Burke (Twilight, Zoo, Lights Out), Jimmy Akingbola (Arrow), and many more. The renewal announcement also included the fact that Waltz is to return in the role of Sellars for the ensuing season.
