Prime Video’s ‘The Lord Of the Rings: The Rings Of Power’ Reports That It Will Premiere Season Three Later This Year

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Prime Video’s The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power announces that the third season of the series will air this year. The third installment of the series was originally rumored to possibly air in 2027, but a source close to production states that it’ll be much closer than that.

As per The Hollywood Reporter, the official plot synopsis reads: “Jumping forward several years from the events of season two, season three takes place at the height of the War of the Elves and Sauron, as the Dark Lord seeks to craft the One Ring that will give him the edge he needs to win the war and conquer all Middle-earth at last.”

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the last time the series aired was in 2024  , making it another two-year gap between seasons. Showrunners and executive producers J.D. Payne (Escape, Flash Gordon) and Patrick McKay (Escape, Star Trek: Beyond) had teased to THR their plans for the third season of the series, telling them: “We’re working on it. We’re cooking. Let us cook!”

As per The Hollywood Reporter, Charlie Vickers (The Lost Flowers of Alice Hart, Death in Shoreditch) as Sauron, Morfydd Clark (Starve Acre, Saint Maud) as Galadriel and Robert Aramayo (Behind Her Eyes, Game of Thrones) as Elrond. In the new instalment of the series, there will be some newcomers that include Stranger Things‘ Jamie Campbell Bower (The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones, Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street), Ray Donovan‘s Eddie Marsan (Sherlock Holmes, Back to Black), as well as Andrew Richardson (The Independent, Homing Instinct), Zubin Varla and Adam Young (Don’t Breath 2, The Witcher: Blood Origin)

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Payne and McKay are joined by EPs Lindsey Weber (Lou, Overlord), Justin Doble (Cloverfield, Into the Badlands), Kate Hazell (Braveheart, Their Finest) and executive producer-director Charlotte Brandstrom (The Outsider, Shogun).

The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power is available to stream on Prime Video.
