Prime Video has released the first trailer for the upcoming action-comedy series Hotel Costiera, as announced in a press release on the streaming platform’s official website. The series serves as the newest brainchild of directors Adam Bernstein (Fargo, Orange Is the New Black) and Giacomo Martelli (Miss Fallaci, Blanca) and is based off of an idea by producer Luca Bernabei (One Step From Heaven, Che Dio ci aiuti).
Per Prime Video’s press release, Hotel Costiera stars Grey’s Anatomy alumni Jesse Williams (The Cabin in the Woods, Detroit: Become Human) as Daniel De Luca a half-Italian ex-Marine who returns to his childhood home of Positano to work a maintenance job in the titular Hotel Costiera, which serves as a luxury vacation spot for some of the world’s wealthiest. While attempting to keep his head down, De Luca’s military skills are quickly put to the test when he finds himself tasked with foiling a kidnapping plot involving his boss’ daughter, Alice, and must navigate a version of his beloved hometown that he can no longer recognize.
In addition to its lavish setting, Hotel Costiera looks to set itself apart from the streamer’s other offerings “with a gripping storyline, fast-paced action and comedy,” according to the official Prime Video website. The series will also boast an impressive cast of actors from the Italian world of television; some ensemble roles include Maria Chiara Giannetta (Blanca, Buongiorno, mamma!) and Jordan Alexandra (The Winter King, Bridgerton).
Season one of Hotel Costiera will last six episodes, all of which will debut simultaneously on Prime Video on September 24th — though exclusively for residents of the United States, Italy, France, Spain, Portugal, Germany, Turkey, Norway, Denmark, Great Britain, Ireland, Canada, Australia and New Zealand. Prime Video has yet to announce whether or not the series will be made available for audiences in other countries.
