As noted by Deadline, multiple television shows were suspended from filming on Wednesday due to the SoCal fires. Wednesday morning resulted in the production cancelation of NCIS and NCIS: Origins. Poppa’s House and The Neighborhood are working remotely for their LA-based sitcoms. Other television shows that postponed filming include All American, Abbott Elementary, Doctor Odyssey, Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage, Grey’s Anatomy, Hacks, Happy Place, the new Leanne Morgan (Happiness Is, The View) project, Loot and Ted.
The fire has also affected late-night talk shows, suspending the tapings of CBS’ After Midnight and Jimmy Kimmel Live. Yesterday, Warner Bros. closed its Burbank lot, which films several Warner Bros. television series, such as The Pitt, Abbott Elementary and All American. The upcoming Leanne Morgan project and Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage had rehearsal and table reads scheduled via Deadline.
Shows that take place in Santa Clarita, such as NCIS and the Paramount lot, like NCIS: Originals, were highly affected, too. Mxdwn reported yesterday that the Fallout season two production had been rescheduled for Friday. However, an extension could be possible due to the state of LA County. Universal Studio Group decided to close the Universal Studios theme park as a precaution. Additionally, NBCUniversal has decided to close the Universal Studios lower lot.
Certain events, such as The Pitt’s premiere on Max and Shifting Gears’ in-person press, have been canceled due to the fire conditions. Fire County has rescheduled its episode release to Friday evening, according to mxdwn. Critical Role has also delayed its episode, which was supposed to come out on Wednesday, January 16.
CBS News reports that the Palisades Fire started on January 7 at 10:30 a.m. PT and has burned 17,000 acres. Four other fires started on Tuesday, but only two were 100% contained. Three different fires started on January 8, and only one was 100% contained. Although many television series, sitcoms and other media are on pause, the well-being of the actors and crew members remains a priority during this time.
