Prime Video Announces Release Date for ‘Sami’, Cindy Williams’ Final TV Acting Project

According to Deadline, the release of Bruce Kimmel’s (The Faculty, Laverne & Shirley) 10-episode short-form comedy/musical series officially has a release date. This will also be the late producer and actress, Cindy Williams’ (Happy Days, Laverne & Shirley) final project, Sami, which is set to premiere on April 23rd on Prime Video.

Sami follows the adventures of Sami Sherman, a young girl trying to make it as an aspiring Broadway actress/singer in New York City. The main cast includes Sami Staitman (House of Lies, The Maiden and the Princess), Williams, Kerry O’Malley (Why Women Kill, Snowpiercer), and newcomer Karim Hazime (Sami). This show is produced by Kimmel’s Kritzerland Entertainment and Purple Porcupine Media, via. Deadline

Williams had passed away at the age of 75 on January 25th, 2023. It was reported by Associated Press that she suffered a brief illness said in a statement by her children, Zak and Emily Hudson, through family spokeswoman Liza Cranis. Both kids are also related to actress Kate Hudson (Almost Famous, Truth Be Told) and actor Oliver Hudson (Rules of Engagement, Nashville) through their father, singer and songwriter Bill Hudson (Hysterical, Kiss Meets the Phantom of the Park).

Kimmel also paid tribute to Williams soon after she passed. He recalled how Williams was looking forward to promoting Sami.

I’ve known her since we began at LACC in 1965, have loved her from the moment I laid eyes on her, and have had so many incredible adventures with her…We were as close as close can be, from then until now. And I’ve been watching her constantly as we’ve been editing the web series we just did and wrapped only two months ago. I’m so grateful to have had her be such an important part of my life for close to sixty years. I will miss her like crazy, but I’m just so happy we got to work together one final time and I can’t wait for the show to air – she was funny, charming, and brilliant right up to the end. I’ve never known anyone like her.” via. Deadline

Many are awaiting when they get to witness the famous Happy Days actress one last time, and now that a date has been set, it’s only a matter of time to get one last laugh for WIlliams and many more for the rest of the cast, including Hazime.
