‘Phineas & Ferb’ Co-Creator Jeff ‘Swampy’ Marsh to Return For Revival of Disney Series

Deadline reports that Phineas & Ferb co-creator and executive producer, Jeff ‘Swampy’ Marsh (Milo Murphy’s Law, I Know That Voice), will be executive-producing and voice-directing the 40-episode revival of the Disney Branded Television series. Also returning is Marsh’s creative partner and series co-creator, Dan Povenmire (Museum Scream, Going Overboad), who had signed a deal for the revival of the Emmy Award-winning series with Disney in early January. The 40 episodes will be split across two seasons; it is not known where the episodes will air.

Marsh is currently in production of a Disney Junior preschool series Hey A.J. with his Surfing Giant Studios and executive produced by Martellus Bennett (Dear Black Boy, Hey A.J., It’s Bedtime!) and Marsh. It is based on the action/comedy books by Bennett.

Povenmire’s overall deal with Disney also includes a second season of Hamster & Gretel, his latest Disney Channel series.

“Swampy is one of the brightest creators in animation and among his many passions is connecting and collaborating with creative people, whether it’s through writing, animation design, directing, music or acting,” Meredith Roberts, EVP of Television Animation at Disney Branded Television, tells Deadline. “He continually elevates their artistry, as well as his own, to tell the bigger and more entertaining stories for global audiences.”

Phineas & Ferb spanned 126 episodes and was the most successful Disney Television Animation series for ages 6-14. The series also had five one-hour specials including two movies and a musical. The entire series is available to stream on Disney+.

It is unknown whether or not the original voice cast will be returning for the revival, but many of them returned for the 2020 film Candace Against the Universe. Those that returned for the movie included Ashley Tisdale (High School Musical, The Suite Life of Zack & Cody) as Candace, Vincent Martella (Everybody Hates Chris, The Walking Dead) as Phineas, Bobby Gaylor  (Phineas & Ferb, Milo Murphy’s Law) as Burford, Olivia Olsen (The Powerpuff Girls, Adventure Time) as Vanessa, Caroline Rhea (Sabrina the Teenage Witch, Sydney to the Max) as Linda, Alyson Stoner (Step Up, Cheaper by the Dozen) as Isabella, Dee Bradley Baker (American Dad!, Ben 10) as Perry the Platypus, Tyler Alexander Mann (Phineas & Ferb, Phineas & Ferb the Movie: Across the 2nd Dimension) as Karl, Povenmire as Dr. Doofenshmirtz, and Marsh as Major Monogram.
