Peacock Orders New Mystery Series ‘The Break-In’ From ‘All Her Fault’ Creator Megan Gallagher

Peacock has officially ordered a new mystery drama series based on Katherine Faulkner’s (“The Other Mothers,” “Greenwich Park,” “The Break-In”) bestselling novel “The Break-In.” According to The Hollywood Reporter, the upcoming series will be written and executive produced by Megan Gallagher (Wolf, Grand Hotel, Seizure) and reunites the creative team behind Peacock’s acclaimed limited series All Her Fault

The Break-In follows Alice Rathbone, a woman whose life is turned upside down after becoming the victim of a home invasion. According to the official logline, Alice refuses to believe that the incident was random and begins investigating the circumstances surrounding the attack. Her search for answers ultimately uncovers a series of dark secrets that hit much closer to home than she ever expected.

The series marks another collaboration between Gallagher and Carnival Films following the success of All Her Fault starring Sarah Snook (Predestination, Steve Jobs, Succession) and Jake Lacy (The White Lotus, Rampage, Miss Sloane). The limited series earned multiple award nominations, including Golden Globe and Critics Choice Award nominations for Best Limited Series. Snook won the Critics Choice Award for Best Actress in a Limited Series.

In a statement shared by The Hollywood Reporter, Lisa Katz, President of Scripted Content for NBC and Peacock, praised the project as a “sophisticated, character-driven mystery” that explores themes surrounding perception and reality. Katz also highlighted the growing audience demand for mystery dramas centered around complex characters and contemporary social issues.

Faulkner additionally expressed excitement about seeing her novel adapted for television, describing The Break-In as a story about motherhood, privilege, guilt, and the consequences of hidden secrets. The author will serve as an executive producer on the adaptation alongside Gallagher.

Gallagher will executive produce the series with Nigel Marchant (Downton Abbey, The Last Kingdom, The Last Kingdom: Seven Kings Must Die) and Gareth Neame (Downton Abbey, The Last Kingdom, The Gilded Age) for Carnival Films, as well as Christine Sacani (The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants, Good Trouble, The Fosters). Carnival Films is part of Universal International Studios and will produce the series.

No casting announcements or premiere date have been revealed for The Break-In at this time.
