Peacock Cancels Horror Series ‘Teacup’ After First Season

According to Variety, Peacock has canceled the horror thriller Teacup after just one season. The show inspired by by the Robert McCammon (Speaks the nightbird) novel Stinger and was originally picked up straight-to-series at Peacock in 2022 and debuted in October 2024. The first and now only season of the series had a total of eight episodes that aired weekly throughout October.

Per the official logline, the show followed “a disparate group of people in rural Georgia who must come together in the face of a mysterious threat in order to survive.”

The series was written and executive produced by showrunner Ian McCulloch (The Tales of Para Handy) with Francisca X. Hu (Sleepy Hollow) and Kevin Tancharoen (Mortal Kombat: Rebirth) along with creator James Wan (The Conjuring 2), Michael Clear (The Curse of La Llorona) and Rob Hackett (The Magic Order) who also executive produced via Atomic Monster.

Cast for the series included Yvonne Strahovski (Handmaid’s Tale) as  Maggie Chenoweth, Scott Speedman (Grey’s Anatomy) as James Chenoweth, Caleb Dolden (Follow Me) as Arlo Chenoweth, Chaske Spencer (Shouting Secrets) as Ruben Shanley, Rob Morgan (Don’t Look Up) as Mcnab, Kathy Baker (Picket Fences) as Ellen Chenoweth, Boris McGiver (House of Cards) as Donald Kelly, Emilie Bierre (Transplant) as Meryl Chenoweth and Luciano Leroux (Yellowjacket) as Nicholas Shanley.

As per Variety, although the series did fairly well with critics during its release with a 70% critical approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes it did not continue its positive score through the season. The series’ IMBD score for each episode keeps a constant rating score of 6.9 out of 10 or under. Peacock did not release information on viewership but what is known is that the series barely scratched the surface of Nielsen Top 10 streaming charts.

Atomic Monster will still work with Peacock on their new untitled espionage drama.

The first season of Teacup is still available to stream on Peacock.
