Patrick Dempsey portrays ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ McDreamy to Urge People to Wear Masks

Grey’s Anatomy’s Derek “McDreamy” Shepherd, played by Patrick Dempsey (Cant Buy Me Love), was a skilled neurosurgeon and known as a fan favorite for his good looks and charm. Dempsey is using his doctor image to encourage people to wear masks amidst the Coronavirus pandemic according to Entertainment Weekly.

Throughout his 11 seasons of Grey’s Anatomy, McDreamy was known to save lives while stealing hearts. Dempsey is putting his scrubs on once again to inspire his followers to wear facial coverings in order to slow the spread of the damaging virus.

Using Derek’s signature catchphrase when walking into any operating room, Dempsey captioned the photo, “It’s a beautiful day to save lives.”  These posts come after other celebrities such as Olivia Wilde (Dr. Remy Hadley, House) and Neil Patrick Harris (Doogie Howser, M.D) are portraying their past roles to encourage facial masks and social distancing as well via Deadline.

This comes a few months after the show itself, Grey’s Anatomy, donated medical supplies to help fight the Coronavirus pandemic. Dempsey hopes to promote safe distancing through his postings as well as shine a light on the healthcare workers fighting the virus on the front lines.
