About two months after news was first released that Party of Five remake was coming to screens from Freeform, the actors who will be portraying the four oldest siblings in the latest rendition of the 90’s Fox drama have just been revealed. Brandon Larracuente (13 Reasons Why), Emily Tosta (Mayans M.C.), Niko Guardado (The Goldbergs), and first-time-actress Elle Paris Legaspi will portray the new rendition of kids under the Party of Five influence.
The original Party of Five followed the five Salinger kids after they lost both of their parents in a car accident. The group, who found themselves under the rule of Charlie, the oldest sibling, vowed to work as hard as they could to stay together. More than anything, the group ultimately did not want to end up in separate homes miles away from each other, thereby losing all they had left. This proved to be no easy goal to fight for, of course, as the 24 year old was not exactly “ready” to take on the task of guiding two teenagers, a young girl, and baby brother through the struggles that come with growing up. However, the family’s perseverance proved itself to be extremely tough, as the group is able to fight through so much together and remain by each other’s sides.
The new Party of Five reboot will similarly focus on the well-being of five kids who are forced to live without their parents, but will be different from the original series in many aspects. For one, the parents of the newest series will not have died like the original Salinger’s, but have instead been deported to Mexico from the United States due to their status as illegal immigrants.
Emilio, the oldest of the Buendias siblings taking over the reboot, first led his parents to fight for a better life in America before having their four other children, once they realized how important it would be for them to have their son born in the U.S. The character shares many similarities to Charlie Salinger, the oldest of the original show’s kids, including the fact that prior to his parents’ departure, he had been living on his own and developing his identity as a grown man before returning home after the drastic event.
Tosta will play Lucia, the oldest sister among the group, and a young woman who begins finding herself in trouble after her parents’ forced removal. Portraying Beto will be Niko Guardano, who will fill the role of the boy who, despite the numerous distractions that surround every young man of his age, puts his family first after the deportation. This character appears to be most similarly linked to Bailey Salinger of the original series, who felt immense responsibility to help his siblings whenever possible. Finally, Elle Paris Legaspi will portray the youngest girl of the group, Valentina, who is only 10 years old when the story commences.
