Paramount+’s ‘Lioness’ Begins Filming Second Season

According to Comicbook, Paramount+’s action-packed spy thriller Lioness is starting production on the second installment. The streamer  recently announced that filming for the project is now underway in Texas. The series, formerly known as Special Ops: Lioness, was renewed for a second season, which came with a title change. 

As per Comicbook, Paramount+ states the series is “inspired by an actual U.S. Military program” and “follows the life of Joe while she attempts to balance her personal and professional life as the tip of the CIA’s spear in the war on terror.”

The cast of Lioness includes Zoe Saldana (Guardians of the Galaxy) as Joe, Laysla De Oliveria (Locke & Key) as Cruz Manuelos, Dave Annable (Yellowstone) as Neal, Jill Wagner (Braven) as Bobby, LaMonica Garrett (The Terminal List) as Tucker, James Jordan (Mayor of Kingstown) as Two Cups, Austin Herbert (Shot in the Dark) as Randy, Jonah Wharton (The Rookie) as Tex, Stephanie Nur (1883) as Aaliyah, Hannah Love Lanier (Road House) as Kate and Nicole Kidman (Big Little Lies) as Kaitlyn Meade. 

Taylor Sheridan (Hell or High Water) is the creator and executive producer of Lioness. Other executive producers include David C. Glasser (Wind River), Ron Burkle (The Giver), Bob Yari (Crash), David Hutkin (Haven), Geyer Kosinski (Fargo), Michael Friedman (1923), Keith Cox (Hunters) Wagner, Kidnman, Saldana, and Ice hockey player David Lemanowicz, a newcomer to the series.”

According to Comicbook, Chris McCarthy, Office of the CEO, Paramount Global and president & CEO of Showtime/MTV Entertainment Studios said in a statement, “Lioness captivated audiences around the world as one of the most-watched global series premieres on Paramount+ last year. Driven by Taylor Sheridan’s masterful storytelling and Nicole Kidman and Zoe Saldaña’s remarkable performances, season two promises to immerse audiences in yet another riveting, adrenaline-fueled journey.”

The first season of Lioness is available to stream on Paramount+.
