Paramount+ has officially renewed Tulsa King, starring Sylvester Stallone (Rocky, Creed, Rambo III), for a fifth season ahead of the season four premiere. According to ScreenRant, production on season five is already underway, with the series moving filming from Atlanta to New York for its next installment.
Created by Taylor Sheridan (Hell or High Water, Wind River, Yellowstone), Tulsa King follows Dwight Manfredi, played by Stallone, a mobster who is sent to Tulsa, Oklahoma, by his crime family to expand their operation. After arriving in the city, Dwight begins building a criminal organization of his own.
Season five will introduce several changes to the series, including the promotion of Scarlet Rose Stallone (Hunting Season, Reach Me, Gunslingers) to series regular. Erik Palladino (I Play Rocky, ER), Glenn Fleshler (Billions, Joker), Anthony Skordi (The Last Frontier, The Offer) and Nickola Shreli (Power Book IV: Force, Cash Only) have also joined the fifth season as new series regulars.
The upcoming season will shift production to New York after previous seasons were filmed in Georgia. Drew Brown, EVP of Physical Production at Paramount Television Studios, said the studio was excited to continue Dwight Manfredi’s story in New York while acknowledging Georgia as an important production location for the company.
The season five renewal comes before the premiere of the show’s fourth season. Season four will pick up sometime after the events of the season three finale, with Dwight moving closer to legitimizing his business after obtaining a federal liquor license. However, he continues to face threats from his former mob family, other groups attempting to challenge his power and law enforcement.
The series has also experienced changes behind the scenes in recent seasons. Terence Winter (The Sopranos, The Wolf of Wall Street, Boardwalk Empire) returned for season four as head writer after previously serving as showrunner. ScreenRant reports that the season five renewal announcement continues to list Winter as head writer, although his specific creative role on the fifth season has not been detailed beyond his involvement as an executive producer.
Stallone leads the series alongside Martin Starr (Adventureland, Knocked Up, This Is the End), Jay Will (Evil, Rob Peace, It Doesn’t Matter), Garrett Hedlund (Mudbound, On the Road, Four Brothers) and Annabella Sciorra (Jungle Fever, The Hand That Rocks the Cradle). The series has currently released three seasons, with season four scheduled to premiere on Paramount+ on October 16.
A premiere date for Tulsa King season five has not yet been announced.
