OWN Releases First-Look Trailer For New Legal Drama ‘Delilah’

The Oprah Winfrey Network (OWN) released the first look of its upcoming drama series, Delilah, via TVLine. The trailer reveals a glimpse of a friendship hitting a crossroads both professionally and personally. Check the trailer out below:

According to TVLine, Maahra Hill (The L Word, blackish) stars in the titular role of Delilah Connolly, a lawyer who traded a corporate office for her own, small-scale practice. After a decade of working for white-collar companies, she sought to change her career to focus on raising her two children. Now she serves underrepresented communities which oftentimes places her at odds with the very firms she used to represent.

The trailer exudes a mysterious tone as Delilah ponders on taking on a new client. The woman explains how she has gotten herself into a bit of trouble and fears she is being watched. We are shown an ambulance descending upon a home, alluding to a fatal accident. A man watches the scene unfold in the distance. Perhaps the very man who is allegedly monitoring Delilah’s client.

Adding fuel to the fire, Delilah’s friend and colleague of twenty years, Jill Marie Jones’ (Sleepy Hollow, Girlfriends) Tamara Grayson, is the litigating counsel against her new client’s case. Tamara pleads with Delilah not to take the case as it will place them on opposite sides of the courtroom for the first time.

According to TVLine, the cast includes newcomer Kelly Jacobs and Braelyn Rankins (Doom Patrol, Hap and Leonard) as Delilah’s children, Maia and Marcus, respectively. They are joined by Khalil Johnson, who plays Delilah’s young nephew, Dion; and, Lyriq Bent (She’s Gotta Have It, Tyler Perry’s Acrimony) who will play Delilah’s frustrating ex-husband.

Series creator Craig Wright (Greenleaf, Six Feet Under) serves as executive producer, via TVLine. He is joined by Oprah Winfrey (The Oprah Winfrey Show, The Color Purple) and Charles-Randolph Wright (On the One, Mama, I Want to Sing).
