Oscar Isaac Talks ‘Moon Knight’; Says It is the Biggest Challenge of His Career, and He Loves It

As Disney+ gears up for new MCU television releases, Moon Knight remains one of the most anticipated series so far. Star Oscar Isaac (X-Men: Apocalypse) recently spoke to Variety in an episode of Variety’s Award Circuit Podcast about his role in the upcoming series.

Although Moon Knight is an arena familiar to the actor, Isaac considered the role to be his biggest challenge yet. When the subject of the series came up on the podcast, he opened up about how grueling of a task working on Moon Knight is and how much he has loved doing it.

“Speaking with Kevin [Feige], I told him I’m going to come in with these big ideas, and if you don’t like them, that’s fair,” Isaac told Variety. “And immediately, we saw it all. I found so much room to do things that I’ve never done before and had been curious about and wanting to do. I could not wait to get to set, and it was the biggest workload I’ve ever had in my career and most challenging; by the sheer amount of stuff we had to do in eight months, and even yet, I couldn’t wait to get to set and work.”

Moon Knight was filmed this year in Budapest. Fans know little about the series, but Isaac’s comments about the difficulty of the shoot were proven after a viral video of him training for the series showed fans just how intense the action sequences are going to be.

Moon Knight will follow Marc Spectre, a former US Marine suffering from dissociative identity disorder who becomes the conduit for an ancient Egyptian moon god. Each of Spectre’s personalities will become distinct characters in the series.

Alongside Isaac, Ethan Hawke (Boyhood) and May Calamawy (Ramy) will also star in the series in undisclosed roles. Gaspard Ulleil was also cast in a villain role.

Moon Knight will consist of six episodes with Mohamed Diab (Cairo 678) directing four episodes, and duo Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead (The Twilight Zone) directing the other two. Moon Knight will stream exclusively on Disney+.
