The Star Wars universe is continue to expand, with next week having releasing the highly anticipated animated spinoff, The Ninth Jedi. According to Comicbook, the new series continues the story from the fifth episode of the first season of the Star Wars: Visions anthology series, in which Margrave Juro, voiced by Andrew Kishino (Steven Universe, The Bad Batch), Lah Kara, voiced by Kimiko Glenn (Hazbin Hotel, Into the Spider-Verse), and two other Jedi survivors were in combat with Sith acolytes in disguise, ultimately emerging victorious.
Reported by Comicbook, In a recent interview with Collider, series directors Kenji Kamiyama (Akira, Napping Princess) and Shunsuke Tada (Noblesse, Starmyu), along with producer Hitoshi Itô (Attack on Titan, The Boy and the Beast), discussed the potential for a second season and reflected on wrapping up the first: “This story is set in the galaxy long after the Jedi Order disappeared. With this series, Kara and her allies become a new Jedi. For Episodes 7 and 8, at the end of the series, we took a lot of time to create that scenario.”
They further go in detail about the experience of the work,”And thanks to Lucasfilm, James [Waugh] and George [Lucas], they were very kindly waiting for us. Maybe production’s scale got a little bigger. So, at the end of the writing, we had a lot of conversations, and we have a lot of different possibilities. I know a lot of fans will question so many things, and fans love to see more, and we all love to keep going, but I’m looking forward to seeing how fans react.”
As reported by Comicbook, Production I.G is officially returning to take charge of the animation for the new series, a move that promises to bring stunning visuals and top-tier action from the Star Wars: Vision episode to upcoming spin-off.
Star Wars: The Ninth Jedi is set to make it grand premiere on Disney+ on August 5.
