Okieriete Onaodowan To Star In Upcoming AMC Series ‘Demascus’

Okieriete Onaodowan (Station 19) will be starring in the upcoming AMC’s upcoming comedic sci-fi series, Demascus, according to Deadline. Onaodowan will be playing the title role in the series.

The upcoming show, which will be six half-hour episodes, according to Variety, is being created by playwright Tearrance Arvelle Chisholm (P.Y.G. Or The Mis-Edumaction Of Dorian Belle). The show was picked up in February and will be executive produced by Mark Johnson (Better Call Saul) via his Gran Via Productions banner. Gran Via’s Myki Bajaj will also be producing. The series is expected to debut next year on both AMC and AMC+, according to Deadline.

Deadline gave a brief description of the upcoming series:

“Demascus follows a 33-year-old man on a mission of self-discovery and the burgeoning field of digital psychiatry that might be the key to defining his truest self. The series is a comedic, genre-fluid, coming-of-age story with a reality-bending premise that explores the gulf between Black male perspectives, while also attempting to answer Demascus’ personal question: ‘Who am I?'”

Kirk Moore (American Crime) will serve as showrunner as well as an executive producer.

Onaodowan is most known for his role as Dean Miller on ABC’s Grey’s Anatomy spinoff, Station 19. He has made many guest appearances on many popular shows including Blue Bloods, Ballers, Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, Girls, The Get Down, She’s Gotta Have It, BoJack Horseman, and Billions. He is also known for appearing in the popular Broadway musical, Hamilton, as Hercules Mulligan and James Madison and for his role in the horror film, A Quiet Place 2.
Late last year, Onaodowan left his role as Dean Miller in Station 19 and joined the cast of Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan for the show’s upcoming fourth season. Onaodowan was with the Grey Anatomy’s spinoff for five seasons and also appeared on the main show in the same role.
