Off the Rails And Into the Airlock: How ‘Among Us’ Was Kept On The Right Track By Cartoon Network’s ‘Infinity Train’

Paramount is baking a big splash this year with having released the highly anticipated animated series, Among Us,  based on the mobile game of the same name and follows the plot in which the crew must find the imposter among them before it is too late. According to Comicbook, the cast of the series is stacked with famous celebrities such as Elijah Woods (Lord of the Rings, Yellowjackets), Yvette Nicole Brown (Zootopia 2, Krapopolis), Patton Oswalt (We Bare Bears, The Sandman) and Dan Stevens (Beauty and the Beast, Abigail).

Reported by Comicbook, the creative mind behind the new animated series is Owen Dennis is other famous works consists of Regular Show and Infinity Train. Dennis goes to speak in an interview about how his time on the other projects helped forge this new journey,“I learned a lot about how story structure works from Infinity Train and Regular Show. For Regular Show, we had to churn out so many stories that you start thinking, ‘Oh, this has to happen, then this has to happen. There are certain beats you just feel like you have to hit. Both the shows we tried to invert expectations, and we brought that same mentality to Among Us.”

According to Comicbook, Dennis than goes into further details on the new series shares some similarity to his previous works,”I wanted everything to have a consequence, so when a character makes a decision in the next episode, that decision has still been made. We brought over that sort of stuff into Among Us, as things are very character-driven. We’re doing something that is an overarching mystery over the whole thing, and we wanted to make it feel emotionally impactful.”

Ultimately, the premise of the animated whodunnit series reflects Owen Dennis’s past works by taking a weird topic and making it deeply emotional for the audience. All episodes of the Among Us animated series are available to stream on Paramount+.
