During 2027 New York Comic Con, Prime Video shared with fans the trailer as well as the premiere date for the original series from Vikings’ creator. The streamer, during panel at the convention, shared more information on the series Bloodaxe. The trailer captivated fans by including a voiceover with visuals of what is to come from the series. In the trailer, it is seen that the series will be filled with bloodshed, love and deception, with massive excitement behind every sequence.

The cast of the panel included Xavier Molyneux (Take My Hand, Lady Death), who plays Erik Bloodaxe; his formidable wife, Gunnhild, Mother of Kings, played by Jessica Madsen (Rambo: Last Blood, Dark Light) and Haakon the Good, played by Levi Miller (Kraven the Hunter, A Wrinkle in Time). They were joined by creator, writer, and executive producer Michael Hirst (Billy the Kid, The Tudors), and Horatio Hirst (Vance, Vikings: Valhalla).
After the trailer, the cast spoke about what it was like to work on the series. Madsen described the series as a love story, pure love in an impure as they have a real connection and lean on each other. Hirst stated that the first season is special to visit and explore, as it is a very emotional experience, focusing on father and son. The cast is shown how to use their weapons by a great stunt team that shows them how to wield their weapons and have fun with them.
All eight episodes of Season One will premiere exclusively on Prime Video in more than 240 countries and territories worldwide. Per the synopsis, “With war looming and chaos consuming the kingdom, drawing in the ruthless Kings of other Scandinavian countries, and even a powerful English ruler, the stage is set for a thundering, cataclysmic, compelling, and utterly magical new Norse saga.”
Bloodaxe will air on Prime Video on January 20.
