Nicole Kidman Joins HBO’s ‘The Undoing’

The Hollywood Reporter broke the news that Nicole Kidman will be working with HBO yet again on a new limited series. The A-list actress has been cast as the lead in a new drama titled The Undoing, based on a book by Jean Hanff Korelitz titled You Should Have Known.

The Undoing will be a psychological thriller following Kidman’s Grace Sachs as she lives her highly successful life in New York City. However, tragedy soon strikes and Sachs’ life is sent into a tailspin when her husband goes missing.

The series will also serve as another reunion for Kidman: besides making a return to HBO, she will also be working with writer David E. Kelley once again, who wrote the hit series Big Little Lies and will be writing The Undoing as well.

Kelley spoke on getting the chance to adapt one of his favorite novels for a major network like HBO. “I loved this book,” the writer said in an official statement. “A character-driven psychological thriller, I’m excited about the adaptation and thrilled to be able to do it with Nicole and HBO.”

Kidman added her own comments on the project, stating, “David has created another propulsive series with a fascinating, complicated female role at its center. I’m excited and honored to continue collaborating with HBO and David E. Kelly.”

HBO has not yet determined a premiere date for The Undoing.
