According to Comicbook, during Disney’s annual upfront presentation on Tuesday, Pete Docter (Inside Out) chief creative at Pixar Animation Studios announced the studio’s first original long-form television series. The new series Win or Lose will air on Disney+ in December. The series was originally announced back in 2021 and was recently teased earlier this year in Disney+ YouTube video showcasing what will stream on the platform this year. The animated Pixar series has long been anticipated since it was announced.
According to Comicbook, in 2021 Docter mentioned Pixar’s first-ever long-form series and said, “It’s not so much about softball as it is a comedy about love, rivalry, and the challenges we all face in our struggles to win at life.” Micheal Yates (Pixar’s Sparkshort Twenty Something) and Carrie Hobson (Toy Story 4) will be directors of the series which is being produced by Docter and David Lally (Coco).
Below are images for the upcoming series.
Win or Lose follows the story of a co-ed middle school softball team who are facing their biggest game yet. Every episode for the series will take place weeks before the championship and throughout the journey it will highlight the different relationships between players, and even their parents. Will Forte (The Last Man on Earth) is starring in the series as Dan, the coach for the team.
This will be Pixar’s first long-form series but is not their first take on animation as Pixar is known for their award-winning animated films, such as Toy Story, Finding Nemo, Up, The Incredibles, Ratatouille, Monsters, INC., Wall-E, Cars, and many others.
Other than Win or Lose Disney announced many upcoming series and films including the Indiana Jones films coming to Dinsey+ and Loki season two release date.
Pixar’s animated series Win or Lose will premiere on Disney+ in December 2023.
