According to Deadline, The Monsterverse is getting three new cast members. Corey Stoll (Midnight In Paris, House Of Cards) Ralph Ineson (The Witch, The Green Knight), and Nayasha Hatendi (High Value Target, Alex Rider) have been cast in the new series for Apple TV. Character details for the new additions are yet to be revealed.
They join Wyatt Russell (22 Jump Street, Thunderbolts*), who both stars in and executive produces the series. Russel plays Young Lee Shaw, a returning character for Monarch: Legend Of Monsters. Also in the cast are Millie Brady (Roadkill, The Last Kingdom) and Pilou Asbaek (Ghost In The Shell, Overlord)
The series is created by Joby Harold (Obi-Wan Kenobi, The Edge Of Tomorrow). It follows the covert mission of Colonel Lee Shaw as he attempts to foil the Soviets’ plan to unleash a new titan during the midst of the Cold War. The character plays a substantial role in the original series Monarch: Legend Of Monsters.
The Monsterverse spans both film and television and chronicles humanity’s battle against terrifying new enemies, Titans. The franchise stemmed from the 2014 Godzilla movie. Four feature films within the universe have now been released, including Kong: Skull Island, Godzilla: King of the Monsters, Godzilla vs. Kong, and Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire. A fifth film is slated to release in 2027, Godzilla x Kong: Supernova.
Several other series are also in development from Harold and Apple TV+. The universe will explore both new Titans and the monsters that have become known as classics. Tory Tunnel (Atlas, Robin Hood) from Safehouse Pictures serves as a producing partner for the universe.
Executive producers for the series include Harold, Tunnel, Russel, Alex Boden (Tokyo Vice, Cloud Atlas), Chris Black (Severance, Outcast), Andy Goddard (Carinival Row, Luke Cage), Kyle Bradstreet (Mr. Robot, Secret Invasion), and James Skotchdopoloe (Fallout, Play Dirty). Toho Co., Ltd., the owners of the Godzilla character, are also involved, with Hiro Matsuoka (Monster Hunter, Pokémon: Detective Pikachu) and Takemasa Arita (Kaiju No. 8, Monarch: Legacy Of Monsters) serving as executive producers.
