New HBO Comedy Series ‘Somebody Somewhere’ to Star Bridget Everett

Bridget Everett (Patti Cake$, Little Evil) is set to star in a new HBO comedy series named Somebody Somewhere, per The Hollywood Reporter. The comedy, for which Everett will serve as executive producer, will be based on Everett’s own life and will be set in her home state of Kansas.

Everett is well known for her live shows in which she performs a combination of comedic songs and stand up. She is also known for multiple television roles, including Dagmar in Netflix’s Lady Dynamite (created by Pan Brady and Mitch Hurwitz), Harry in HBO’s Camping (created by Lena Dunham and Jenni Konner), and Judy in Netflix’s Twelve Forever (created by Julia Vickerman).

In a statement, Everett commented on who the show will be a close look into her homewton and how she grew up, saying, “As a born and bred Kansan, I’m thrilled to share some of the beauty and complexity of the place that I grew up. For as long as I can remember, I’ve dreamt of making a show on HBO. I’m so grateful to Amy Gravitt, Casey Bloys and the entire HBO family for their faith in Somebody Somewhere. Somebody Somewhere will follow Sam Miller (Everett), who struggles with fitting in with the culture of her small hometown. Singing helps her to alleviate some of her difficulties, providing her with a passion that leads her to self-discovery and finding people who also feel like outsiders. Along with Everett, the show will be executive produced by Hannah Bos (High Maintenance), Paul Thureen (Driveways), and Carolyn Strauss (Chernobyl), Patricia Breen (Betty). Bos and Thureen are the creators of Somebody Somewhere. The show will also be executive produced by creators and producers of Room 104: Mark Duplass (Creep), Jay Duplass (Transparent), Mel Eslyn (The One I Love), and Tyler Romary (Gamer).
