New Details Emerge for Season 2 of Disney Channel’s ‘Star Wars Resistance’

Disney Channel announced on Wednesday that the Emmy-nominated show Star Wars Resistance would be returning for its second and final season in October. The announcement included new trailer for the upcoming season that provided a look at some of the new characters to be featured, including Kylo Ren.

The announcement confirmed that the second season of the show will take place within the Star Wars timeline between The Last Jedi and the upcoming film The Rise of Skywalker. It follows the main character Kaz, a pilot and spy for the Resistance, and his friends as they try to take down the First Order. The trailer shows that the heroes will be facing a new Hutt, bounty hunters, and, of course, Kylo Ren himself. We also see featured the character Tam, who appears to be questioning her loyalty to the First Order, and may play a more prominent role in this upcoming season.

Season 2 will also feature several prominent guest stars, featuring the voices of Joe Manganiello (Magic Mike), Daveed Diggs (Hamilton), and Elijah Wood (Lord of the Rings). Matthew Wood, who previously voiced various characters for Star Wars: The Clone Wars, will be the voice of Kylo Ren.

Disney also announced that this will be Star Wars Resistance’s final season. This comes as a bit of a disappointment for fans of the show, since the first season of Resistance gained a positive reception, and was even nominated for an Emmy for Outstanding Children’s Program.

A Disney representative informed EW that “With the movie [The Rise of Skywalker] coming up in December, this was a natural place to end the show with an epic finale.” The show follows in the footsteps of past Star Wars series, such as Disney’s Star Wars Rebels, running for a total of four seasons, and the much-beloved Clone Wars, originally airing on Cartoon Network for six seasons before moving to Netflix for its seventh season.
