Netflix’s ‘One Piece’: Is Season Three Already In The Works?

According to Comicbook.com, Netflix’s live-action adaptation of the popular anime One Piece is proving to be far from finished. Since its debut last year, the show has defied Hollywood norms by delivering a successful live-action anime adaptation. This achievement has positioned it as one of Netflix’s most-watched originals, quickly earning a green light for a second season.

Recent developments suggest that a third season might also be in the pipeline. Speculation about the show’s future arose from a recent interview with Brashaad Mayweather (Summer With The Guys, SWAT: Unit 887, Furious 7 High Octane), who portrayed Patty in the first season of One Piece. During the interview, Mayweather discussed his character’s potential future in the series.

As reported by Comicbook.com, in the course of the conversation, he hinted that Netflix might be planning to film the second and third seasons back to back.”We’ll see if they flash back to it because they’re filming two seasons – season two and three – back to back starting soon. So we’ll see what happens,” Mayweather revealed. This statement has sent ripples through the fan community, given that Netflix has only officially confirmed a second season so far.

The idea that Netflix might be quietly preparing for a third season, especially given the show’s success, has left people buzzing with excitement and speculation. However, without official confirmation from Netflix, there’s a possibility that this couldn’t be the case at all. As mentioned by Comicbook.com, it wouldn’t be unprecedented for Netflix to order multiple seasons at once, as seen with Avatar: The Last Airbender, which received a double-season order after the release of its first book.

Currently, One Piece fans are eagerly anticipating the confirmed second season. The first season covered the East Blue saga, setting the stage for the upcoming Arabasta saga. This next chapter is expected to delve into key storylines from Drum Island to Loguetown, promising a wealth of new adventures and characters. Reports indicate that production for the second season is slated to begin this summer, with June marking the start of preparations. As the anticipation builds, fans are left to wonder if Mayweather’s comments will hold true, potentially leading to a dual-season production. For now, they are content with the knowledge that season two is on the horizon. Whether or not a third season is indeed in the works, the excitement surrounding One Piece continues to grow, fueled by the show’s unexpected success and the promise of more high-seas adventures.
