Netflix’s ‘#blackAF’ Releases Trailer Starring Rashida Jones and Kenya Barris

The upcoming Netflix comedy series #blackAF has released a full-length trailer starring Rashida Jones and Kenya Barris, according to Deadline. The two actors will also executive produce the parenting comedy, in addition to Barris making his acting debut. #blackAF will follow Barris’ blunt approach with parenting, race, culture, and relationships in addition to exploring the concept of “new money.” Netflix’s forthcoming comedy will be presented in a mockumentary sitcom-style similar to other comedies such as Modern Family and The Office

#blackAF stars Barris and Jones as husband and wife of a family as they attempt to navigate the challenges of parenting. Jones is most recognized from her past television roles on NBC’s The Office and Parks and Recreation, as well as TBS’ Angie Tribeca. The actress has also been featured in various films such as 2009’s I Love You, Man and 2010’s The Social Network. Barris will star in his new series as a fictionalized version of himself in his first acting credit. Barris has worked behind the scene for decades, perhaps most known for as the creator of ABC’s Black-ish. He also is the creator and producer of the parent show’s two spin-off series, Grown-ish and Mixed-ish. Similar to Jones, Barris has also involved himself in the film industry with his writing contributions for 2019’s Shaft

Netflix’s new comedy will feature a cast that includes Genneya Walton (Project MC²), Scarlet Spencer (Bright), Iman Benson (Alexa & Katie), Justin Claiborne (Marriage Story), Richard Gardenhire Jr., and Ravi Cabot-Conyers (Justine).

Slotted to be a springtime addition for Netflix, #blackAF is set to drop April 17 on the streaming giant. Check out the trailer below:
