A new dark and twisted dream is coming your way. The acclaimed best-selling author Neil Gaiman (Coraline) is preparing yet another television show based on one of his works. His mega successful comic book series Sandman is set to begin production at Netflix in October according to Screen Rant.
Sandman was a long running comic book series that Gaiman wrote and released from 1989 to 1996. Extremely popular, Netflix’s take on the dark graphic novel is only the latest adaptation. Just this past August, the platform Audible released an original audio series called Sandman, created by Gaiman and Dirk Maggs (Good Omens). An epic story that runs 20 episodes, it covers several volumes of the comic. A prolific cast, it included the voices of Riz Ahmed (Rogue One: A Star Wars Story), Taron Egerton (Rocket Man), James McAvoy (It: Chapter 2), Michael Sheen (Midnight in Paris), and Andy Serkis (The Lord of the Rings). No casting announcements have been made yet in regards to who will star in the upcoming series.
Sandman is a story about the Lord of Dreams, also known as Lord Morpheus, who is in charge of giving and controlling everyone’s dreams throughout the world. When he becomes captured and imprisoned on earth for several decades, he is also stripped of his powers. Things go awry, with people’s sleep schedules and dreams falling apart. When he finally escapes, he goes on a journey to seek revenge on all the people who did him wrong, retrieving the powers stolen from him.

Gaiman is a longtime veteran when it comes to adapting his novels into television series. His stories typically include mythology and magic, encompassing epic heroes journeys with an unlikely underdog at the helm. His book Good Omens was recently made into an original limited series on Amazon Prime and American Gods is a fantasy series currently airing on Starz.
