Netflix ‘The Crown’ Recruiting Paul Bettany for Season 3

Paul Bettany is being linked to season 3 of Netflix The Crown in the role of Prince Phillip. According to Variety, the diverse actor is next in the royal lineup to play Queen Elizabeth’s husband replacing Matt Smith who held the role previously.

Bettany would fill the last piece of The Crown cast. Olivia Colman (Queen Elizabeth) and Helena Bonham Carter (Princess Margaret) have already been selected to portray the aging characters. Show creator Peter Morgan has long committed to changing actors as the stories progress.

The upcoming season would require Bettany to commit to six months of filming. It’s been reported he has already met with show producers as well as EP Andy Harries. Bettany currently has two films in the hopper for 2018 including Solo: A Star Wars Story and Avengers: Infinity War.
