Netflix Sets Premiere Date for ‘The Fall of the House of Usher’

According to Deadline, Netflix has officially set the premiere date of The Fall of the House of Usher for Thursday, October 12. The Fall of the House of Usher is created by Mike Flanagan (Midnight Mass, The Haunting of Hill House) and is an eight-episode limited series based on the short story of the same name by Edgar Allan Poe (The Raven, The Tell-Tale Heart).

The Fall of the House of Usher is an epic tale of horror, tragedy, and greed. The short story by Poe includes themes of identity, family, isolation, and madness. The series follows ruthless siblings Madeline and Roderick Usher, who built Fortunato Pharmaceuticals into an empire of power, privilege, and wealth.

Flanagan directs the series with Michael Fimognari (To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before, Oculus). Flanagan and Fimognari executive produce with Trevor Macy (Doctor Sleep, The Haunting of Hill House) and Emmy Grinwis (The Mosquito Coast, Snowfall).

The Fall of the House of Usher originally starred Frank Langella (Dracula, Masters of the Universe), but he was fired after a misconduct investigation halfway through production. It will now star Bruce Greenwood (Gerald’s Game, The Resident).

The series cast includes Mark Hamill (Batman Forever, Child’s Play), Mary McDonnell (Major Crimes, The Closer), Samantha Sloyan (Hush, The Midnight Club), Aya Furukawa (The Cabin in the Woods, The Midnight Club), Annabeth Gish (The Haunting of Hill House, Brotherhood), Michael Trucco (Fire Country, Fairly Legal), Kyleigh Curran (Secrets of Sulphur Springs, Doctor Sleep), Matt Biedel (Narcos: Mexico, Midnight Mass), Robert Longstreet (Swing Low, Ghost Therapy), Kate Siegel (Hypnotic, Hush), and T’Nia Miller (The Peripheral, The Diplomat), Carl Lumbly (Alias, M.A.N.T.I.S.).

The cast will also feature Willa Fitzgerald (Scream, Reacher), Katie Parker (Absentia, Next Exit), Sauriyan Sapkota (The Midnight Club, The Fall of the House of Usher), Daniel Jun (The Expanse, Crisis), Ruth Codd (The Midnight Club, The Fall of the House of Usher), Igby Rigney (The Midnight Club, Midnight Mass), Crystal Balint (Summer Love, October Kiss), Malcolm Goodwin (Reacher, iZombie), Zach Gilford (Good Girls, Friday Night Lights), Rahul Kohli (Midnight Mass, The Haunting of Bly Manor), Henry Thomas (Legends of the Fall, Midnight Mass), and Carla Gugio (Gerald’s Game, Spy Kids).
