Netflix Renews ‘Trinkets’ For A Second and Final Season

In 2020, another show is leaving Netflix. Today, the streaming service released a video announcing the second season of their young adult show Trinkets. The announcement also stated that the second season will be the show’s final season.

Season 1 of Trinkets was released on June 14 starring Brianna Hildebrand, Kiana Madeira, and Quintessa Swindell. The show is set in Portland and follows the story of three teenage girls Elodie Davis, played by Briana Hildebrand, Moe Truax, played by Kiana Madeira, and Tabitha Foster, played by Quintessa Swindell. When the three girls, from three different backgrounds, meet for the first time they find out they have something in common. They all are shoplifters. This leads to an unlikely friendship between the trio as they find strength in each other as they navigate family issues, high school drama, and the dilemma of trying to fit in while wanting to break out.

The 10-episode-long first season was created by Amy Andelson and is based on the book, Trinkets, by Kristen “Kiwi” Smith. The show also stars Odiseas Georgiadis, Henry Zaga, Brandon Butler, and Jessica Lynn Skinner.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the showrunner of the show was recently replaced. The show’s original showrunner, Linda Gase, was replaced by Sarah Goldfinger, who is known for her work on CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, Almost Human, and The CW’s Charmed. There have been no details released about why the change occurred.

Netflix also stated that the choice to announce that Season 2 was the show’s final season was so that they could bring a natural conclusion to the story. They wanted to let the viewers know right away that there would be no third season. Recently the streaming service has come under fire for canceling shows too early with few making it to a third season.

Season 2 of Trinkets will be released in 2020 consisting of another 10 episode season.
