Netflix Renews ‘Locke and Key’ for Second Season

The Netflix original, Locke and Key, has been announced for a second season renewal, according to Deadline. Adapted from a comic book series of the same name, the streaming series follows supernatural and fantasy themes. Created by Carlton Cuse (Lost), Meredith Averill (The Haunting of Hill House), and Aron Eli Coleite (Heroes), Locke and Key hit Netflix’s library in February and was among some of Netflix’s top streaming programs in its debut month.

The series centers around a supernatural coming-of-age story of the Locke family and the magical powers that they possess. The drama follows the lives of the Locke children after their father passes away mysteriously. After their father’s demise, the children and mother move to a home owned by relatives as they uncover magical keys and the unique powers that are held within. Once the key’s powers are discovered, evil forces begin to appear and threaten the Locke children.

The cast of Locke and Key includes Darby Stanchfield as the mother Nina Locke, Connor Jessup (Falling Skies) as Tyler Locke, Emilia Jones (Doctor Who) as Kinsey Locke, and Jackson Robert Scott (It Chapter One) as Bode Locke. Additionally, the Netflix cast features Petrice Jones (Lucky Man), Laysla De Oliveira (In the Tall Grass), Griffin Gluck (Red Band Society), and Aaron Ashmore (Smallville) in its supporting cast.

The Netflix series has received positive critical acclaim and even drawing comparisons to another Netflix supernatural original Stranger Things. Currently, there is no set premiere date for the upcoming second season, yet the first season is available for streaming in its entirety on Netflix. Check out the first season trailer below:
