Netflix Releases Trailer For ‘That ’70s Show’ Sequel ‘That ’90s Show’

The trailer for That ’90s Show has been released via the Netflix channel on YouTube. The series has been highly anticipated by fans of That ’70s Show since the announcement of the spinoff over one year ago.

The ten-episode show will welcome back cast members Kurtwood Smith (RoboCop, Broken Arrow) and Debra Jo Rupp (She’s Out of My League, WandaVision). It appears to be similar to the style of the original 1998 show that ran for eight seasons on Fox.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the premise of the show is as follows: “It’s 1995 and Leia Forman (Callie Haverda) is desperate for some adventure in her life or at least a best friend who isn’t her dad. When she arrives in Point Place to visit her grandparents, Red (Smith) and Kitty (Rupp), Leia finds what she’s looking for right next door when she meets the dynamic and rebellious Gwen (Ashley Aufderheide). With the help of Gwen’s friends, including her lovable brother Nate (Maxwell Donovan), his smart, laser-focused girlfriend Nikki (Sam Morelos), the sarcastic and insightful Ozzie (Reyn Doi), and the charming Jay (Mace Coronel), Leia realizes adventure could happen there just like it did for her parents all those years ago. Excited to reinvent herself, she convinces her parents to let her stay for the summer. With a basement full of teens again, Kitty is happy the Forman house is now a home for a new generation and Red is, well… Red.”

While the Netflix sequel will introduce a new generation of teenage protagonists, various stars from That ’70s Show will reportedly make guest appearances. Ashton Kutcher (A Lot Like Love, What Happens in Vegas), Mila Kunis (Friends With Benefits, Bad Moms), Laura Prepon (Orange Is The New Black, The Hero), Wilmer Valderrama (Larry Crowne, NCIS), and Topher Grace (In Good Company, Spider-Man 3) will reprise their roles. Danny Masterson (Dracula 2000, The Ranch) will not return as he is currently on trial and awaiting a verdict for three counts of alleged forcible rape.

This series was created by executive producer and writers of That ’70s Show Gregg Mettler, Bonnie Turner, and Terry Turner, with the addition of Lindsey Turner. It will be the third show in the franchise; a 2002 sequel titled That ’80s Show starring Glenn Howerton (It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, The Strangers) and Chyler Leigh (Supergirl, Not Another Teen Movie) aired on Fox for only one season.

That ’90s Show is set to premiere on January 19, 2023, streaming exclusively on Netflix. You can watch the trailer below.
