Netflix Releases Premiere Dates Through 2017

Netflix has announced premiere dates for the streaming content provider’s original series through the year’s end. Variety reports that Netflix will release an original series every two to three weeks during the fall of 2016 in full-court press to expand the service’s subscription base. Netflix CCO Ted Sarandos’ aggressive plan for spending on original series was documented earlier this week here on mxdwn.com. This period encompasses the premieres of a myriad of anticipated shows, like Marvel’s Luke Cage (premiering September 30).

Less well known is Beat Bugs (premiering August 3), a children’s animated series hailed by NME as possibly the “coolest kids TV show ever.” Beat Bugs features a gang of five bugs growing up to the tunes of 50 Beatles songs, performed by contemporary artists, in 11-minute episodes, and has already been renewed for a second season even though the first season hasn’t yet premiered.

Black Mirror returns for a third season on Netflix this fall, with an October 21 premiere date. Black Mirror is directed by Joe Wright and Dan Trachtenberg, and stars Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Mackenzie Davis, Jerome Flynn and Kelly MacDonald.

The Ranch, starring Ashton Kutcher, and from the executive producers of Two and a Half Men, goes online for the second half of this season’s two halves with another ten episodes on November 10. The first ten episodes premiered this past April. Ashton Kutcher and Danny Masterson play two brothers in a dysfunctional family on a Colorado ranch in the multi-camera comedy.

Last but certainly not least, the hyped Gilmore Girls Netflix reboot premieres on November 25, as previously reported here on mxdwn.com.
