Netflix Releases Premiere Date and Trailer for Season 4 of ‘The Crown’

Fans of the Netflix original series The Crown have received the season four premiere date in addition to the show’s first-look trailer, according to Deadline. The original television program is created by Peter Morgan (Frost/Nixon, Rush) and premiered on the streaming platform in 2016. The series consists of three seasons, amassing a total of 30 hour-long episodes. The show is executive produced by Stephen Daldry (Billy Elliot, The Reader), Philip Martin (Catherine the Great), Andy Harries (Wallander, Outlander), Tanya Seghatchain (The King’s Speech), Morgan himself, and many more. Additionally, the show is composed by the acclaimed composer in Hans Zimmer (The Lion King, The Dark Knight, Inception). 

The Crown centers on the long reign of Queen Elizabeth II with the first season detailing the origins in 1947 and progressed through the 50s and 60s in season two and late 60s to the 70s in the third. The fourth season will introduce Lady Diana and Margert Thatcher while the ensuing fifth and six seasons will conclude the series while following the story into the 21st century. Queen Elizabeth has been portrayed by Claire Foy (The Promise, Wolf Hall) in the first two seasons and Olivia Colman (Broadchurch, The Favourite) in the third season. Additional cast includes Matt Smith (Doctor Who) and Tobias Menzies (Game of Thrones, Outlander) as Prince Philip, Vanessa Kirby (Hobbs & Shaw), and Helena Bonham Carter (Fight Club) as Princess Margett. 

Additional cast includes the likes of Jeremy Northam (The Tudors), Victoria Hamilton (Pride and Prejudice), Marion Bailey (Mr. Turner), Eileen Atkins (Cranford), Greg Wise (Sense and Sensibility), Charles Dance (Game of Thrones, The imitation Game), Ben Miles (The Romanoffs), John Lithgow (Dexter), and many more. Recently, Netflix announced that Elizabeth Debicki (The Great Gatsby) is joining the series as Princess Diana and Jonathan Pryce (Game of Thrones) as Prince Phillip
