Netflix Releases First Look At ‘Vikings: Valhalla’

In a recent tweet teasing their upcoming titles for 2022, Netflix unveiled the first images for their spin off of the History Channel’s Vikings series: Vikings Valhalla. Created by Michael Hirst (The Tudors, Vikings) the original show followed famed viking Ragnar Lothbrok and his sons raiding and pillaging during the height of the Viking age.

Hirst is connected to this new iteration as well, but the newly unveiled pictures show fans that they can expect a different story from Valhalla. According to the tweet from Netflix, the show will be set 100 years after the original series and will follow the adventures of new famous Vikings such as Leif Erikson played by Sam Corlett (The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, The Dry) and Freydis Eriksdotter played by Frida Gustavvson (Tigers, Swoon).

Instead of the original show showing the rise and height of the Viking age, this new show will see the Vikings clash with English royalty in a conflict that will ultimately lead to the end of the Viking age.

The pictures show the main characters ready for such battles, adorned in their customary Viking armor and also soaked in the blood of their enemies. Fans can hopefully expect the same gruesome and enticing action that lead to the original show’s success.

Vikings: Valhalla will premiere on Feb. 25th, 2022 and will be the franchise’s departure from the History Channel. The show will also feature Laura Berlin (Ruby Red, Emerald Green) as the ever conniving Emma of Normandy, Bradley Freegard (Human Traffic, Keeping Faith) and the Danish King Canute.
