Netflix Releases ‘13 Reasons Why’ Season Three Teaser Trailer with Major Character Death and Announces Final Season

Netflix has just announced that 13 Reasons Why is premiering its third season on August 23rd. The announcement was made in a teaser trailer that also revealed a major character death that will drive the season’s main conflict. 13 Reasons Why was created by Brian Yorkey (Freaky Friday) who is also the showrunner and executive producer of Season Three alongside Mandy Teefey, Kristel Laiblin (In Time), Selena Gomez (Hotel Transylvania), and Joy Gorman (Seeking a Friend for the End of the World). Season Three will have thirteen episodes.

Season Three begins eight months after the Season Two finale when Clay talks Tyler down, preventing him from committing a mass shooting at the Liberty High’s Spring Fling dance. Clay, Tony, Jessica, Alex, Justin, and Zach are struggling with the weight of the cover-up while helping Tyler recover. The situation worsens after a chaotic Homecoming game ends in the disappearance of the star football player, leading to an intense investigation. A new character will be introduced to guide the group through the investigation as it threatens to expose everyone’s darkest secrets.

Before the third season is dropped this month, Netflix announced that the fourth season of 13 Reasons Why, which is currently in production, will be the series last. The final season will include the class’s graduation from Liberty High. The announcement came following Netflix’s recent decision to alter the controversial suicide scene in Season One.
