The production of the second season of The Witcher was paused by Netflix due to four positive COVID-19 tests, as reported by Variety. Those who tested positive are all among the show’s production team, thus Netflix will conduct rounds of testing for all members of the show’s production while the main cast is in isolation. Production is taking place in London, England.
This is the second time production has been halted on set of The Witcher, the first being in March at the beginning of the pandemic when cast member Kristofer Hivju (Game of Thrones) contracted the virus. It returned to production in mid-August with UK COVID-19 protocols in place.
The Witcher is based on a Polish drama based on the book series under the same name by Andrzej Sapkowski. It surrounds Geralt of Rivia, played by Henry Cavill (Superman) and Princess Ciri, played by Freya Allan (Captain Fierce). As one of Netflix’s most popular shows, the second season of the series was ordered before its first season debut in 2019. The series will return to production when they have taken the necessary precautions and determine when it is safe to continue.
