Netflix Orders Dark Comedy Series ‘Dead to Me’

Netflix has made straight to series order for Dead to Me from Liz Feldman. She will write the script, be an executive producer, and also be the showrunner for the half hour comedy. Her fellow executive producers will be: Will Ferrell, Adam MacKay, and Jessica Elbaum. It will be produced by Gloria Sanchez Productions and CBS TV Studios. According to Deadline the series Dead To Me is a dark comedy about, “a powerful friendship that blossoms between a tightly wound widow and a free spirit with a shocking secret.”

Feldman’s most recent works where CBS comedies The Great Indoors and 2 Broke Girls. She was also the creator of One Big Happy family (the NBC comedy series). She is also credited for writing for The Ellen DeGeneres Show, Blue Collar TV, as well as, multiple Academy Awards telecasts. For Feldman this is her first Netflix series. In 2016 she signed her first overall deal with CBS Television Studios. Beforehand she had a longtime relationship with Warner Brothers.

Ferrell and McKay also executive produce Drunk History for Comedy Central (renewed for sixth season), the new series LA to Vegas for FOX, and No Activity for CBS which has been renewed for second season. Gloria Sanchez also has a single camera comedy called I’m Sorry which was ordered by truTV. This will be the second overall series for Sanchez.

Dead to Me becomes the fourth series from the CBS TV Studios to be ordered by Netflix.
