A new horror series is coming to Netflix, and some brilliant TV minds already have their hands on it. According to Deadline, the Duffer Brothers, co-creators of the widely successful series Stranger Things, have been given the green light to produce the new horror series Something Very Bad Is Going To Happen. The series is created by Haley Z. Boston, who will also serve as executive producer.
Something Very Bad Is Going To Happen is described as a horror drama that takes place at a wedding that is heading towards doom. The Duffer Brothers were eager to get the project rolling when the script came across their desk. According to Deadline, the two were astounded by how talented Boston’s writing was when they read the script. They also expressed how lucky they felt that they came across her work.
“We were knocked flat when we first read Haley’s script. She is a major new talent with a singular voice — her writing is twisted, terrifying, funny, and just… very Haley,” said the Duffer Brothers to Deadline, “We feel so lucky to be producing her first show, and we can’t wait to share her vision with the rest of the world.”
Netflix’s VP of Scripted Series Peter Friedlander also commented on how excited Netflix is to not only collaborate again with the Duffer Brothers but also bring Boston’s work to life. He said, “We’re thrilled to collaborate once again with dream partners Matt, Ross, and Hilary to bring this unexpected and spine-tingling story to life through Haley’s uniquely riveting vision.”
This isn’t Boston’s first time working with Netflix. According to Deadline, she previously worked on Guillermo del Toro’s Cabinet of Curiosities and Brand New Cherry Flavor.
As they begin this new project, The Duffer Brothers are also continuing their work on production on the fifth and final season of their massive hit Stranger Things. There is yet to be any announcement regarding the development and production timeline of Something Very Bad Is Going To Happen.
