Netflix has officially ordered second season for the unique show Love, Death, and Robots. Love, Death and Robots is an anthology that spans genres like sci-fi, horror, comedy and fantasy. The show comprises multiple animation styles to tell its stories. The show is aimed at an adult audience. The first season had a total of eighteen episodes. Every episode incorporates one or more aspects mentioned in the show’s title.
Love, Death, and Robots was created by Tim Miller (Deadpool) and David Fincher (Gone Girl). When the project was initially announced, Miller said, “Love, Death and Robots is my dream project… It combines my love of animation and amazing stories. Midnight movies, comics, books and magazines of fantastic fiction have inspired me for decades, but they were relegated to the fringe culture of geeks and nerds of which I was a part. I’m so f**king excited that the creative landscape has finally changed enough for adult-themed animation to become part of a larger cultural conversation.”
Along with a season two confirmation, Netflix announced on Twitter that Jennifer Yuh Nelson would join the creative team as supervising director for volume two. Nelson has worked on numerous projects. She began her career as a story artist and character designer on HBO’s Spawn. Nelson then moved over to DreamWorks animation where she directed two of the Kung Fu Panda movies. Jennifer Yuh Nelson is the first woman to solo direct a major Hollywood animated film. Nelson has also worked on a live action feature. Nelson directed 2018’s The Darkest Minds, a live action film based off of a young adult novel.
A release date for Love, Death, and Robots’ second season has not yet been announced by Netflix. It is also unclear how many episodes will be made for volume two.
